A view inside the restaurant:

A view from inside the restaurant:

The restaurant is located just beside the Singapore River. Having to sit in the outdoor and to eat the delicious food that they serve, it is definitely fulfilling and real indulgence.

Editors waiting for food and enjoying the peaceful ambience: =)

To date, we have visited the restaurant twice. One visit for lunch and the 2nd one for breakfast. The food here is simply good and tasty. Below is a summary of the food that we had for the 2 visits: Pardon us, we do not remember the name of the dish..

Breakfast:

Chicken Salad with gorgonzola cheese sauce:

($11.00... The dressing is a little too thick. For those who love thick and creamy dressing, this is for you! =))

Srambled eggs-Crabmeat and roast tomatoes :

($11.50...both editors love this dish, must order!)

Panini-PARMA :
($11.00...Parma ham, mozarella and rucola salad)

Indulgence: haha..

Lunch:

Salad-Grilled Vegetables with shaved parmigiano cheese and balsamic vinegar:

($10.50... The grilled vegetables includes red/yellow pepper and etc. The taste is rather special)

Entree-SALSICCIA:

($16.90... Grilled Italian sausage with rosemarry sauce. The mashed potatoes that comes with taste very 'natural'. It is definitely a good thing. I hope you get what we mean.)

Pasta-Fettuccine & Salmone:

($17.90...Fettuccine with salmon and saffron cream sauce.)

The price of the food is slightly slight above average. For both meals we had there, consisting of 1 salad, 2 main dishes, 1 dessert, they cost us about $40-$50 ++. It is not bad at all seriously.. We will definitely go back for more.

Oh Yes.. their desserts are heavenly. There are a lot of varieties for you to explore!! And there is a top secret for the restaurant. Well, it is up to you to go and find out..hahaha...

Drop me a comment if you found out this secret! =)

Bad experience ahead: "Old Hong Kong Cafe"

Old Hong Kong Cafe
86 East Coast Road, Blk A Katong Village
Open 24 hours
Old Hong Kong Cafe seems like the perfect hangout: it is open 24 hours and it offers awfully cheap parking at $2.14 per entry after 6pm. With the sprouting of so many hong kong cafes, this one seems like a gem as the cafe is also spacious and bright.
We were ushered in promptly the moment we entered and the seemingly crowded cafe still had more to offer but what we didn't expect was that they stationed us near the area where the piping hot food are churning out from the kitchen. So there was quite a bit of movement and to put it bluntly, noise. Thus, the rather uncomfortable editors decided that we need to search for a better seat. Scanning the restaurant, we could see at least 2-3 other empty seats, we shifted immediately and were quite perplexed why they didn't offer us somewhere better.
To our relief the food was served fast but alas, we didn't expect 'utensils-poking' waitresses. The waitresses served our french toast and then placed the utensils on our toast...=_=
ok fine...forget it. Then they served my oven-toasted seafood rice with cheesy mushroom sauce and then poked the fork in.... =_= That was it for me....
Editor #2 ordered curry noodles with turnip and kailan. It was laden with MSG and it wasn't any good. After we finally managed to stuff the food down, the waiter appeared almost immediately and asked if he could clear the dishes. Seriously, what is the hurry chap?
My last agony is that the milk tea is beyond redemption. ALL Hong Kong cafe MUST have fantastic milk tea. The one we had has too much ice and the tea tasted suspiciously similar to some of those we find in any neighbourhood coffee shop.
Now, this is pure disappointment and I am sure this will be our first and last try though we still love the rustic Katong-East Coast area.

Marutama Ra-men

MARUTAMA RA-MEN
#03-90/91 The Central S(059817)
Tel: 65348090
http://www.ma-rutama.co.jp/
Business hours: 11.30am to 10.00pm
This restaurant has quite an authentic Japanese touch.
Although, the variety of ramen available in this restaurant is rather limited, it is still worth a try for that tinge of 'Nippon'. :) There are 3 main type of soup bases available at Marutama. They are 1) chicken soup, 2) spicy chicken soup and 3)'Limited special soupbase'-made from a varieties of nuts and as a bonus, it tastes rather healthy.
Once you have chosen the type of soup-base for your ramen, you can choose the sides you want for your ramen. The price of each side dish varies but they range between $1-$5. Some sides include Aosa (seaweed), 'stew pork', tamago, negi (spring onions) and lemons (I love that slight tinge of sourness).

Both editors are in love with the stew pork and tamago. All the essence and gist can be tasted from these 2 sides. They are flavourful but not overpowering!! The tamago is a real treasure. It looks like any hard-boiled egg. But but but... when you cut the egg open, the egg yolk which is in semi-liquid form oozes out and teases your tastebuds. So the tamago is a must-order for ramen lovers out there. =)

Take a look at the food:

Special limited Ra-men (chicken soup with a mixture of 7 nuts):

Spicy chicken soup with stew pork:

Side dish: Tori Dango
(minced chicken ball with some minced ingredients)
The soup is super rich!

Well, the above 3 dishes cost us $49.90. We find it overpriced. However, we still think it is worth trying as it is not really easy to find ramen with very 'sincere' soup-base in Singapore. =) At the very most, don't visit this restaurant so often in order to keep your pocket from emptying... haha....

Have a wonderful weekend! ^___^

RomanKan Yokohama

Romankan Yokohama
#B2-04 Takashimaya
Editor#1 has been suggesting to dine at this place, but I am not sure why i just did not feel like trying it in the past until last nite.
Wow..the food is really good and is comparable (or even better) to Curry Flavour.. I can't help wanting to introduce this place to all of you. =)
1 set meal cost about $14 nett.
Lets take a look at the good food below:
Set #1: Rosu Katsu Ni

This dish came with the Rosu katsu with a half-cooked egg. There is also a generous serving of cabbage. Really not bad..

Set #2: Katsu Curry

This dish came with the Katsu and a good portion of curry sauce. The curry sauce is very rich and you can actually find bits of meat. That is how rich it is..

Quick go and try!

Cappadocia Cafe & Restaurant

Cappadocia Cafe & Restaurant
11 Unity Street #01-12, Robertson Walk.
On the entrance glass door, there is this very attention seeking poster saying; '食载好吃' with Kym Ng as the poster girl. For those who know, this poster does tell something.. =) Well, after an experience at Sofra (another Turkish restaurant located at Shaw Tower), introduced by Editor #1, I have grown more adventurous and interested to explore more Turkish food. =)
Cappadocia is quite simply docorated but it does give a 'turkish' feeling..hahah..just take a look at the picture below:

Well, how do you think of the ambience?

Lets check out the food!
Starter: Karasik Meze Tabagi

This is a perfect sampler for 2
Main Dish #1: Imam Bayildi

Sliced eggplant stuffed with crunchy chopped veggies served with Pilaf rice

The juice was literally oozing out from the eggplant...And the sauce is very rich, very tears inducing..haha
Main Dish #2: Anada Iskender
Minced beef wrapped on a flat skewer served on a bed of pide bread toped with special tomato-yoghurt sauce

The beef is a little hard, but when eaten with the sauce which consist of the tomato sauce and the yoghurt, you will forget all the 'toughness' -__-

For those who don't really fancy tomato sauc, this is really worth trying..And for those who like tomato based sauce, this is a MUST...this is really nice!

The above 3 dishes cost around 55 bucks...

So what do you think of the price? =)
