Royal Copenhagen

Royal Copenhagen Tea Lounge
Level 2, Takashimaya Shopping Centre

This is a very good place to sit and drink and chat and eat the pastries and have an overview of the busy Orchard Road. We went to this place a few times but its always full, perhaps its weekend? Anyway, they allow reservation. =)

The food served here looks and taste good. We took pics of the food we ordered:

Appetizer (set dinner):

Norweigen Fish & Chips:

Main Course for the Set dinner:

Dessert: Caramel Egg Pudding

The fish and chips is really nice, served with cut potato chips..

高记--Koo kee dumpling & ramen house

KOO KEE
Dumpling & Ramen House
(@ Bugis Village)
Spinach Beancurd with H***** Mushroom :($8)
Steamed Juicy Meat Bun: ($6)
Ramen with Minced Pork & Mushroom:($6)
Shanghai Styled Fried Flat noodle: ($12.8)
The food here is quite nice. The Ramen with Minced Pork & Mushroom taste a little different from what we usually find in places like 'crystal jade'. Its a little tomato flavoured, some will like while some won't. =) The Shanghai styled fried flat noodle is nice and flavourful, but a little steep-priced as there is only chicken meat. The beancurd is nice, it taste like self-made type of tofu, not what we can find over the shelf. Overall, the food is not bad. The food price is quite high, what we ordered few of the cheapest dishes.. =) It is still categorised as a one-timer restaurant by us. If we really want to eat the Juicy meat bun, or la mian, we can always go to the Crystal Jade, Imperial Palace or Ding Tai Fung with very similar prices..

店小二--Dian Xiao Er

店小二
Its the first time we write about Chinese food. Well, 店小二 is quite uniquely furnished and the waiters and waitresses are dressed in ancient time uniform. Cool! haha

We term such a restaurant a one-timer restaurant, one that you will not really go for a 2nd visit. The food do taste good, however, we feel that for the price they are charging, we rather find nice '煮炒‘ elsewhere which serve similar standard food and with more varieties. =)

Soup: Old Style Fish ($12)

Luo Han Zai:

Mongolian Ribs ($10.80)

Not forgetting this, they do have 'Early Bird Discount' of 12% before 6pm. If you are given the
元宝 upon arriving,as shown in the pic below, you are entitled to the discount. =)

Jack's Place
Steak House & Restaurant

Lobster Soup:

'Duck breast mandarine Salad':

Escargot:

Spring Chicken Set:

Rib-Eye:

Apple Crumbler:

The food is generally nice. Having tried steaks from so many places, including those so-called expert steakhouse, none is as satisfying as Jack's Place. We have rather given up on the hope of eating nice, or i should say edible steak. So now, whenever we crave for steak, we will head to Jack's Place. The price from Jack's Place is decent and affordable too. =)

WaKaShaChiYa - Curry Udon Place...

WaKaShaChiYa
6 Eu Tong Sen St S(059817)
The Central #03-92/95
Tel: 65349984
Everytime we go to the Central, we will walk around to browse through the restaurants located on the 2nd and 3rd storeys. Everytime we came to stand outside this WaKaShaChiYa, we will look through the menu (even if we have seen it like at least 3 times), and eventually walk away to another restaurant. The main reason is the very little variety in the range of food they serve. They serve mainly Curry Udon, with various types of toppings. But somehow if you are not a curry udon fan, you will hesitate, like us.
Anyway, we made the very first move and we tried their food finally. Haha...Well, the food is not bad really. Unless you love Curry Udon, else you will go back very once in a while. =)
Below are the dishes that we ordered:
Unagi Udon Chilled/Hot: $18.80

Curry Udon (without topping): $12.50

Tebasaki Moriawase (3 flavours chickenwings): $10.00

Note:
Its always ok to try new food! =)

Wasabi Tei

Wasabi Tei

Far East Plaza #05-70

Phone: 62388216
This is a place, a very small place, where there is always a queue. You may need to wait for about 45minutes before you can take a seat in the cozy little space.

Food editor # 1 and #2 like the Unagi Set as well as their mixed sashimi Don. Its like 'if not this then that' kind of order. Oh ya, their Chawanmushi is also very satisfying with alot of ingredients. =)

Appetizer (Sometimes, this may change to another dish)

Main Dishes..

Unagi SetBeef Set

Sashimi & MekaJiki...

Point to Note:

The food produced by the Chef is great. HOwever, you must be prepared to take his 'shit'. A bit crude here, but just be aware of his 'PMS' attitude. He can be very fierce and don't really give face to even the customer. =)

Another new Japanese Pasta Restaurant -- Shokudo @ Cathay Cineleisure

Shokudo @ Cathay Cineleisure
We spotted this Japanese Pasta Restaurant when we walked from our usual parking place..We were very excited and were thinking this may be the 'replacement' for Waraku Japanese Pasta Restaurant that we frequent. So we waited for it to be grandly opened.. =)

Well, we were totally excited and amazed by the variety of food they have. Thus we ordered quite a lot of food! 1 main dish pasta each, 1 pizza for sharing, 1 salad for sharing and lastly 1 dessert for sharing. WOW...haha..quite alot yay!!

After some waiting, the food came... See below:

Salad

Pasta 1

Pasta 2

How do they look? We were still with high hopes when we saw the dish...Hmm..the dream of having good japanese Pasta was shattered upon eating the dishes..The sauce is not rich enough, not tasty enough. Well, just don't feel right. You can go and try it and you will understand what we mean. Oh ya, provided you have already tried Waraku.. =)
We did not take the rest of the dishes as our morale is much lowered by the blur waitress and the not-so-tasty food..
However however, we will still go back to try their desserts; especially their think french toast as we tried their 'ice-Kachang' with rice balls...NICE! =)

Sofra Turkish Cafe & Restaurant

Sofra Turkish Restaurant @

100 Beach Road #02-42/43/44Shaw TowerShaw Leisure Gallery Singapore 189702
The ambience of this restaurant is rather good, especially when you got a window table.
We tried their platter starter that consists of sofra salad, eggplant salad, hummus and vine leaves roll: their hummus is nice...

The main dishes we ordered are as follows:

SOFRA fish; Baked Cream dory in foil, served with bread. The sauce is sour in a very good and refreshing way. The sauce is mainly tomato based. The bread goes very well with the sauce.

Sofra Kebap (Lamb and Beef); The sauce is tomato based and it goes very well with the kebap. The kebap may be a little dry and hard, but the taste is still not bad.

Oh ya, for the drinks, we suggest that ice water is good enough. =)

So far we only visited 2 Turkish restaurant, Sofra and Cappadoccia. Food from both restaurants are nice. But if you want nicer Starter Platter, you may want to go to Cappadoccia. =) We fell in love with the Cacik (cucumber with yogurt)

For people who have not try Turkish food before, these 2 restaurants should be good and decent enough to get started.

Shimbashi Soba @ Paragon

Shimbashi Soba @
the Basement of Paragon
This place serves chilled and hot(soupy) handmade soba. Well, i started to really love Soba after visiting this place. If all along you thought places like Sakae Sushi serves good soba, then you should really go to Shimbashi Soba for a try. I have visited there for 3 to 4 times, taken only a few pictures. Please take a look... =)

Salmon Cappaccio (Appetizer):

Tofu Steak:

Well, the sauce tastes like 'ba jiu' (hokkien), a type of canned food. But the Tofu is very tasty, a little oily though.

Nebaneba soba:
This chilled soba consists of lady finger, a raw egg, some seaweeds, some beans (fermented beans) and so on. For people who dislike sticky slimey food, please don't try. However, it will taste very nice and healthy for those who are ok with food with such texture. =)

Chilled Soba with Vegetable Tempura:

This is very nice..tempura is light, not oily and are very fresh. The chilled soba is heavenly! It springs!!hahah

Kamo Soba:

This is a sliced duck soba with very tasty soup. Well, i think this is under 'special' item, so its not available everytime if i am not wrong. Can check it out yourself ah...

Thats all for now.. =)

Dennis Restaurant, just beside Shenton Way PartyWorld

Dennis Restaurant
No.25
Shenton Way, #01-05,
Singapore 068812
Tel: 62233187
Dear all, this is one of the most 'homely' restaurant I have ever been to. The manager and waitress are the best. Whatever you ask for, they will give. Of course it should be something possible. There was once we were there around 10pm having supper.
We ordered tea and we asked for lemon slices, like how the other table (can see that they are regulars) did. They gave us at no extra cost! This restaurant is fabulous. They sell both western and chinese food.

Oh ya, they provide free soup of the day, can be either chinese-styled or western-style or both, all you want to drink ah! Yes they are free-flowing..hahaha...
Latest updates: We ordered the Waffle set (Mighty Waffle) shown below yesterday. As we can't take eggs recently, so we request to change the eggs to salad, basically a few pieces of vegetables. To our very surprise, they gave us 2 individual small plate of salads as good as those 'garden salad' in some restaurant. Wah, we are so touched man..hahah..really good!!!

Editor #1 loves the waffle set especially. =)
Lets take a look at the photos.

Oh ya, get to mention the prices. They are rather reasonable. You can take a preview of some parts of the menu:

Thats all for the photos. Oh ya, the manager noticed that we frequent the restaurant. So he gave us each a membership card! haha..at no extra cost, purely on a friendly account. Isn't it cool..Its a 15% off per visit. Cool cool cool....

We usually visit this Dennis Restaurant for dinner and supper. The place is really quiet and you really can immerse there with your own business. Or you can watch the MTV with live singing by the manager. Nobody is going to give you any wierd look.
