Oriole (Beside 313) #01-01, Pan Pacific Serviced Apt

I am all excited about this place when my friend told me that the coffee/food/drinks/desserts here are 'to-die-for'. Here we are at this cafe restaurant bar, whatever you can call it.
While waiting for my friends to arrive, which took them about 30minutes, I really can't stand the temptations when the waitresses walked pass me with all the food and everything that smell so good.
So I ordered a cup of Mint Chocolate, which i am so hooked with eversince i had 1 at Coffee bean. By the way, Coffee bean does not have any more Mint Chocolate *SAD*...
This one did not fail me. It gives me hope..haha..I have somewhere to go when I want good Mint Cho drink!!! Whohoooo....I can't help but finish this drink within like 5 minutes?? Sip after sip, which i can't bring myself to stop. ..
My friends all came.. We started to order food and more drinks. This is Ice mocha. Well, I am not a coffee person, but the coffee here in general is very smooth. Not yucky and bitter and hard to drink, I guess only non coffee drinker will understand what i mean.
I ordered this Beef cheek pasta. I never knew that Beef cheek is so so so tender and soft. Nice sauce too! Not too expensive, $15

This sandwich, named as oriole burger, is also a WoW...The angus beef is like layered so thickly that they are thicker than the bread!! The cheese layer is also very thick and rich. Sauce is like cameralized onion kind of sauce. Overall very nice. Beef a little too much though, haha..Think because of the big amount of 100% angus beef, this dish cost $24. =)

We also ordered Spicy Calamari, oh that one is ok only. They are the beer battered type, the flour taste is too overpowering for me, so i did not really enjoy the dish. $13 bucks.

This drink is Pineapple Caipirinha, very sour, good for digestion. haha..it cost $15, rather ok for a quality cocktail.

GREAT GREAT food and drinks. Will definitely return for more!!!

Finally I have time to do some updates here..

First of all, lets have a cheap deal at restaurant-class food.. Well, the food is not Fatas-Fantas Fantastic..But it is definitely worth the price and the value sure surpass the cost you pay. =)

Seafood Chowder: $2.98 (something like that, not more than $3)
Thick but not too overpowering..The small bits of ingredients are visible and tangible..haha..

Mushroom & Bacon Risotto: $5.98 (something like that, less than $6)
Oh, this dish may be too 'soupy' for some, as you can observe from the photo. Taste good though. =)

Hamburg Steak: $7.98 (something like that, less than $8)
The hamburg is nice, if you like the Hamburg of Mr Curry (under the Waraku group of restaurants), then this will not disappoint you. The corn is very sweet and juicy. Nice..

Escagot: $5.98 (something like this..haa..really can't recall the price)
Oh this taste better than the Jack's Place one, which we find too salty. This is just nice. =) For this price, come on la!! The taste is good enough. =)

Ice-cream (3 layers-ice cream) ($5plus, can't remember)

The top-most layer taste like the sultana cake, with the dried fruit bits. Not bad at all.. It is imported from Italy.. The name of this ice-cream starts with a 'C'..

Will definitely go back again..Because the food is cheap and good.. =)

Total cost for this meal is $30+.. What do you think? =)

Picotin @ 100 Turf Club Road S(287992)

This is a high class breakfast that we have eaten so far. We spent about $60+ on breakfast.hahaha.. Hmm..ok its brunch to be exact. =) How much can we eat with this amount at the hawker centre.
Anyway, its for the experience. Its really a nice place to hang out and chill. =)

See the pictures...
Appetizer: Bread..nice nice nice..soft bread with nice butter..satisfaction..

Some arrowhead salad, forget what's this dish actually...Just leaves and the usual cheese topping. Nothing special

Rognons de veau `a l’ancienne
Veal kidney, mushrooms, tagliatelle pasta, whole grain mustard sauce
($26)

Oh this dish, if you hate the 'blood' taste of liver, you better don't order this. I like and accept the taste of pig's liver. But I can find difficulty finishing this dish cos the 'blood' taste and flavour is too overpowering. However, their pasta is nice and I ordered a 2nd portion. =))

BASHKIR
Yoghurt, grilled tandoori chicken, onions, coriander, mozzarella
($19)
This pizza is very special, a tinge of Indian style. The yoghurt makes the pizza very appetizing. The chicken is also well marinated and very tender. This dish is flavourful.

Here come the desserts..

Tarte Normande, glace rhum raisin
Apple tart with rum raisin ice cream ($11)

Overall verdict: I will visit again if i feel rich or if i have strong cravings for nice pizza.. Anyway, there are actually quite a number of special dishes which I wanted to try.

Take it slowly then...

OrganiCafeXperience @ Orchard Building #01-02 S(239693)

** Latest update on this restaurant - Orchard Branch seems to have closed down.. Do call to check if you are going to check out this restaurant.

We passed by this restaurant a many times and finally we stopped by one day to take a look at the menu. There are quite alot of varieties of food to choose from. Pictures are also very attractive. So we decided to give it a try. =))

We ordered a side dish appetizer. My favourite, bbq beef meatball with ginger BBQ sauce ($6.90). The sauce is sweet and sour and bbq-ish. Nice! Not too sweet, not too salty. The meatball itself is a little hard and dry. I think they are toasted or deep fried to have a crispy coating before they are fried-coated with the sauce. Don't expect to get those IKEA bouncy and juicy type.

One of the mains we ordered is this fish dish. 'Panfried Cod Fillet with organic honey pineapple chutney, accompanied b Japanese curry sauce ($16.90). Hmm...the first impression is 'wah..very funky tasting'. The curry is not really very japanese style. Hmm..really hard to describe and i can say that such taste are quite rare and special. Can give it a try if you like special taste. =))
The other is Wholemeal Noodle served with coriander pesto, topped with chicken breast ($11.90). The sauce is a little creamy and light. Hmm..taste rather healthy.
Oh haha...my favourite dessert..Apple crumble with Ice-cream ($8.90), especially those type very crumbly type.. =))

I will come back here again to try other stuff. Not very expensive place to eat at. The chinese manager can be quite 'loud-voiced' and rude sounding, but i think he is trying to be friendly (in his own ways) and trying to give us more info on the restaurant.

Quite a number of dishes are quite special and interesting. There is discount with CHINA BANK credit card.

Riders Cafe @ 51 Fairway Drive

The ambience for this place is very serene and out of the city. You can smell the nature and you may even smell the horses..haha.. You are sure get to see horses and ponies galloping around in the training area. Really a rare scene in Singapore.

Homes for the horses...

Part of the menu, to find out more about the restaurant, perhaps you can clip onto http://www.riderscafe.sg/

Here goes the food...

Starter: bread with olive oil dip - soft, healthy multigrain & sesame breadwith. Olive oil dip is not too overpowering, with pleasant 'basil' aroma.

Appetizer: buffalo Wings - It comes with different level of spiciness. The sauce is more of those
sweet and sour and spicy type rather than those very bbq sauce
type, if you get what I mean. =) The complementing white sauce is
not exactly tartar tasting, but is lighter.

Appetizer: Calamari Rings -

They are the breadcrumbs type. Well, its not too oily and you will probably sustain and finish up the dish with your dining partner without wastage. Sauce is similar to the one above.

Main Course: Cod with potato beneath -

Fish is just ok, but the potato beneath is very tasty. The sauce is a little sweet and sour, thus this dish can be very appetizing.. =)

This meal cost around $50 for 2 persons..

Our verdict:

This is a good place, with very close to the nature ambience, to laze during a lazy afternoon. Drinking their mocha and tea, sampling their appetizers, which are apparently more worthy to spend on. =)

Its been a long long time -- 1 year ++

Dear all,

its been more than 1 year since I last update this food blog..

Well I am going to start off again. Yes and i should do it, to keep a record of what we have eaten!

Here You go...in the next post...

Royal Copenhagen

Royal Copenhagen Tea Lounge
Level 2, Takashimaya Shopping Centre

This is a very good place to sit and drink and chat and eat the pastries and have an overview of the busy Orchard Road. We went to this place a few times but its always full, perhaps its weekend? Anyway, they allow reservation. =)

The food served here looks and taste good. We took pics of the food we ordered:

Appetizer (set dinner):

Norweigen Fish & Chips:

Main Course for the Set dinner:

Dessert: Caramel Egg Pudding

The fish and chips is really nice, served with cut potato chips..

高记--Koo kee dumpling & ramen house

(@ Bugis Village)
Spinach Beancurd with H***** Mushroom :($8)
Steamed Juicy Meat Bun: ($6)
Ramen with Minced Pork & Mushroom:($6)
Shanghai Styled Fried Flat noodle: ($12.8)
The food here is quite nice. The Ramen with Minced Pork & Mushroom taste a little different from what we usually find in places like 'crystal jade'. Its a little tomato flavoured, some will like while some won't. =) The Shanghai styled fried flat noodle is nice and flavourful, but a little steep-priced as there is only chicken meat. The beancurd is nice, it taste like self-made type of tofu, not what we can find over the shelf. Overall, the food is not bad. The food price is quite high, what we ordered few of the cheapest dishes.. =) It is still categorised as a one-timer restaurant by us. If we really want to eat the Juicy meat bun, or la mian, we can always go to the Crystal Jade, Imperial Palace or Ding Tai Fung with very similar prices..

店小二--Dian Xiao Er

店小二
Its the first time we write about Chinese food. Well, 店小二 is quite uniquely furnished and the waiters and waitresses are dressed in ancient time uniform. Cool! haha

We term such a restaurant a one-timer restaurant, one that you will not really go for a 2nd visit. The food do taste good, however, we feel that for the price they are charging, we rather find nice '煮炒‘ elsewhere which serve similar standard food and with more varieties. =)

Soup: Old Style Fish ($12)

Luo Han Zai:

Mongolian Ribs ($10.80)

Not forgetting this, they do have 'Early Bird Discount' of 12% before 6pm. If you are given the
元宝 upon arriving,as shown in the pic below, you are entitled to the discount. =)

The food is generally nice. Having tried steaks from so many places, including those so-called expert steakhouse, none is as satisfying as Jack's Place. We have rather given up on the hope of eating nice, or i should say edible steak. So now, whenever we crave for steak, we will head to Jack's Place. The price from Jack's Place is decent and affordable too. =)
